Alistair Meakin | CWNP

Alistair Meakin has been a Director of MarQuest Limited, a company specialising in Wi-Fi systems and infrastructure support, for over twenty years. Alistair holds a Doctorate in Electronic Engineering from the University of Hull and is a member of the University of Oxford where he is completing a Masters in Software and Systems Security. Holding the CWNE, CWNA, CWSP and CWAP certifications, he has regularly acted in a consultancy role to major companies and government organisations. Alistair lives in Beverley in the UK with his wife and two children.

Temat: Designing and maintaining an effective Wi-Fi security policy

In his talk, Alistair will examine current Wi-Fi threats and their significance in relation to the wider IT security landscape. Examples of current Wi-Fi attacks will be given together with the associated threats posed. He will explain how, with good policy design, the multitude of benefits from Wi-Fi are achievable while at the same time mitigating risks to key assets. Alistair will outline how he believes that detailed knowledge is required to underpin the formulation of any effective Wi-Fi security policy and how the CWNP certification program delivers this in a professional and systematic manner.
